Vilnius has a lot to offer for its guests. The lithuanian capital allows visitors also to discover the beauty of the whole baltic region. With its location Vilnius seems to be also a perfect place to start a short journey to Riga.
For long time there were two options avaiable to go from Vilnius to Riga. Either took a flight or go by bus. Starting end of December 2023 there will be another opportunity. As reported – LTG Link, The Lithuanian Railways Group’s passenger transport company, got the permission to transport passengers in Latvia. With this decision the direct train connection between Vilnius and Riga can start its service.
In both directions – Vilnius to Riga and Riga to Vilnius – will be operated a daily connection. Trains will depart from Vilnius every day at 6:30 and arrive at Riga Central Station at 10:43. Towards the direction to Vilnius trains will depart at 15:28 from Riga and arrive at 19:51 in Vilnius. The daily train connections will have stops in Šiauliai, Joniškis and Jelgava.
Tickets for the international train connection between Vilnius and Riga will be sold from December 18. The first connection will be operated on December 27.
